The Thunder 8 comes in a cool steel case.
The mouse itself comes in two pieces.
There is a base and the mouse surface that sits on top of the
base. The top has two surfaces – one for speed and
one for control which can be taken out easily from the lower left corner
where a grove on the base sits. The control side has more of a grainy feel
to it and you can feel the small bumps on its surface. The speed side which
I use feels smoother to the touch and has very small bumps on it. The entire
mousepad is about 12 in x 10 inches in length and width which is not too big
and not too small. The height of the gaming pad is 1/3 inch
– a good height for mousepads. Now the base has a great
gripping design. It has 10 rubber pads on the bottom that provides enough
surface area so that it wont slip when you are pwning noobs hard with it.

The mouse surface is jet black which
is perfect for gaming – doesn’t reflect light back to
mouse’s sensor. The base comes in a variety of colors from your standard
back to green. I tried both sides with the Razer Diamondback and Copperhead
and Logitech’s MX 510. There was no skipping and great control on both
surfaces. The control side felt a bit too smooth for me but I know Payne
uses only this side.

Now I had my first Thunder 8 pad over a
year ago and the surface does get scratched up over time when your pwning so
hard with it. The lifetime of the mousepad surface is about 1 year on each
side. So if you wear out one side you can flip it over and use the other.
But for 20 bucks its worth it.

The Thunder 8 gaming mouse pad also comes
with a wire holder for your mouse so that it does not tangle up. The mouse
wire holder can be attached to the top or to the sides of the base of the
Thunder 8. It’s a good design but I don’t recommend you use it when you play
Counter-Strike because it hinders the mouse’s movement. If you want to get a
good mouse wire hanger for your mouse for FPS games then check out WoP’s CS
Pwnage guide which includes how to make your own wire hanger for CS.
